Improving Upon the Walk Behind Mower Sulky AttachmentThe walk-behind lawnmower has long been the lawn professionals’ choice, but with the introduction of the ZTR and the stand on mowers, landscape contractors and property managers have quickly moved away from the walk-behind. Well, who can blame them … no one wants to walk when they can ride.

We agree, but before you give up on the walk-behind so fast take a look at why we believe the it’s still better than the ZTR or stand on mower.

Maneuverability of a Walk Behind

For lawns that have multiple obstacles and steep pitched slopes nothing performs better than a walk-behind. It gets into tight places and closer to objects like trees and shrubs. It can also mow under those trees and shrubs without damaging them. They hold a straighter line along a steep slope because it’s easier for the operator to guide.

Less Turf Damage

In order to go easy on the turf, an operator must perfect the art of the Y-turn or risk tearing it up. Do this multiple times a year in the same patterned mowing fashion and bare spots will begin to appear from the repeated abuse on the turf. Walk behind lawn mowers alone weigh less than the ZTR or stand-on lawn mower plus you don’t have the weight of the operator over the driving wheels adding more to the overall weight.

Why Sit When You Can Stand!

Sitting down on a machine that will exert a constant and direct jolt to your back is not recommended. It’s been proven in multiple industries that, whenever possible, standing is better than sitting especially for longer periods of time.

Also, think of all the times you’d have to get up from sitting to pick up debris that you don’t want to mow over. Being at the standing position cuts down the time an operator is not mowing and gets the job done faster. Time is everything to a landscape professional! On steep slopes the standing platform has an angular construction that allows the operator to keep their feet in a safer stance.

Take a closer look at our standing platform. It’s specially designed to adjust to every operator and every walk-behind. Operators have varying arm reach and to accommodate everyone, our sulky has the ability to extend outward. Also, walk-behind mower chassis sit at varying heights from the ground so to keep the standing platform level, we’ve incorporated an adjustment feature for that as well.

But You Don’t Want to Walk All Day?

Well, we wholeheartedly agree with that, too! That’s why KAGE Innovation designed the Wheel Kaddy walk-behind lawnmower sulky. Yes, there are other brand sulkies out on the market, but none as versatile and comfortable as the Wheel Kaddy.

Let’s face it, when it comes to the reputation of a mower sulky, most other brands aren’t built to last for very long making it difficult for operators to want to use a walk-behind lawnmower sulky attachment. To improve upon the best lawn mowing machine – we designed and built a mower sulky attachment that offers maximum comfort, an overbuilt construction and heavy-duty, commercial-grade parts.

Talking Tough About the Wheel Kaddy Lawn Mower Sulky

Perhaps the biggest improvement over other lawn mower sulky brands is the Wheel Kaddy’s 3-piece wheel assemblies. This design improvement will allow an operator to easily and quickly change a tire and add to the rigidity of the wheel set.

All of our Wheel Kaddy wheel sets come with tapered roller bearings – the same type of bearing found commonly on highway trailers. These bearings will last a lifetime of use! No more wheels breaking down and having to be repaired every week, month or year.

At all critical pivot points on the Wheel Kaddy, we’ve incorporated the use of u-joints similar to automotive applications. These u-joints come with greaseable need bearings. Perhaps the coolest “tough” feature of the Wheel Kaddy is the quick release and attach of the push-button release. The self-aligning spline shaft, similar in design and construction to a PTO shaft, eliminates the need for greasy pins or tools to remove the sulky from the mower.

In addition to its tough construction, for storage the Wheel Kaddy comes with a chain set to raise and hold the mower sulky attachment in a stored position for travel. This is such a simple feature benefit for professional landscape crews that haul numerous pieces of equipment.

If Speed, Agility and Durability is what you’re looking for in lawn maintenance equipment, the walk-behind mower still reigns supreme over the ZTR and stand-on designs. The Wheel Kaddy is an attachment for that walk-behind mower that makes it more of an obvious choice for professional property management and landscape contractors.
